In marketing your book the first thing to know is that you need to start NOW! The sooner the better or at least 3 months before it is going to hit the shelves, be they virtual or in a book store. Start by just announcing your book on your blog, on FaceBook, on Twitter, on Goodreads, or any place else you can think of. It is then out in the world and you have started the ball rolling.
Once you’ve announced your book you need to keep the momentum going by plugging it every way you can and as often as you can. Gain a following through social media and your book will sell. The bigger the following the more it will sell.
Mark your progress as you write to your following and encourage them to repost that progress to their friends. By getting the word out you get your work known and the more people know the more likely they will buy your book. As in any sales endeavor it’s a numbers game. The more people that know of your book the more people will buy it.
There is nothing really secret about selling. Offer a product people want at a price that is reasonable and get the word out about that product to as many people as you can. Help it to go viral. Take every opportunity you can to tell people about your book. Post on forums that have people interested in the genre. Give books away for reviews, especially to newspapers and magazines that do reviews. Write press releases about your book.
Focus your attention on ways that you can get the word out about your book. Email friends and family or even better build a list of followers. Create videos and put them on your YouTube channel telling people about your book. Have fun with your promotions. Don’t think of it as work. Instead think of it as a fun project of talking to people about what you love to do.
Whatever you do make sure you ask for the sale. Don’t hem and haw about, be direct and make it easy for them to buy the book. Have a link to the order page and ask for them to review it. Also have them tell their friends
